Data ownership
If you cancel, can you still get your invoices?
A real, common fear before switching invoicing software: getting locked out of your own past records the moment you stop paying. Here's exactly what StitchInvoice does, compared with what QuickBooks and FreshBooks say themselves.
Quick answer
Is exporting my documents from StitchInvoice tied to my subscription?
No. CSV export of your documents works any time, whether you're actively paying, on the free plan, or have cancelled — it isn't gated by billing status.
- StitchInvoice export access:
- Not time-limited
- QuickBooks (per their help center):
- 1 year read-only after cancel
This describes CSV export of your document records today, not a guarantee about every future feature — and it isn't a bundled ZIP of every PDF.

Questions
Common questions.
What exactly can I export from StitchInvoice?
A CSV of your documents — invoices, quotes, estimates, receipts, and credit notes — from your account settings, at any time. It's not currently a bundled archive of every individual PDF; it's a structured export you or an accountant can open in a spreadsheet.
Do I lose access if I stop paying?
No. The export isn't gated by your billing status — a business on the free plan, a lapsed subscription, or an active paid plan all have the same access to exporting their own document data.
How does this compare to QuickBooks?
According to QuickBooks' own help center, cancelling a QuickBooks Online subscription gives you read-only access to your data for one year afterward (90 days if it was a trial), and QuickBooks explicitly recommends exporting your data before you cancel. StitchInvoice's export has no such time limit.
How does this compare to FreshBooks?
FreshBooks' own help documentation states that a cancelled account's data remains intact and the account can be reactivated later to access it again — closer to StitchInvoice's approach of not deleting your access on cancellation.
