Terms
This proposal is valid for 30 days. A 50% deposit confirms the booking; the balance is due on delivery. Either party may end the engagement in writing, with work completed to date payable.
Acceptance
Signing below accepts this proposal and the option marked, and authorises the work to begin.
The downloaded PDF opens with a full cover page and carries a small “Made with StitchInvoice” line in the footer. Nothing here is saved or sent anywhere. Your draft stays in this browser until you download the PDF.
Send it as a page, and see when it lands
In StitchInvoice a proposal goes out as its own shareable page. You see when the client opens it and which option they pick, the accepted price flows into the contract, and the contract flows into the first invoice, one thread from proposal to paid.
What to include
What actually belongs in a proposal.
A cover that names the client and the project, so it does not look like a template
An overview that shows you understood the brief before you priced it
Numbered sections for approach, what is included and timeline, not one wall of text
Two or three priced options, with one clearly recommended, instead of a single take-it-or-leave-it number
What each option does and does not include, so the price has context
Terms and an acceptance block, so a yes is a signature, not just a reply
One number or three
A single price is a yes-or-no question.
Options change the conversation from “can I afford this” to “which of these”. A recommended tier gives the client a default, and a smaller tier keeps a “not right now” from becoming a “no”.
Questions
Common questions about proposals.
What makes a proposal win?
It shows you understood the brief before quoting, lays out a clear approach, and gives the client a choice of priced options rather than a single number to accept or refuse. Presentation matters more here than on an invoice: a proposal is a sales document, and a cover page plus real structure is often the difference between a reply and silence.
What is the difference between a proposal and a quote?
A quote is a price for a defined piece of work. A proposal makes the case first: it shows you understand the problem, lays out an approach, and then presents pricing, usually as options. You send a proposal when the client is still deciding whether and how to proceed, not just how much.
Should a proposal have more than one price?
Usually yes. A single number invites a yes-or-no answer, and often the answer is no. Two or three options, with one marked recommended, move the conversation from "whether" to "which", and let a client who cannot afford the full scope still say yes to something.
How do I know if the client has read it?
A PDF cannot tell you. That is the one thing this free version cannot do. When a proposal goes out from a StitchInvoice account it is a shareable page, and you can see when it was opened and which option was chosen.
Can I add my logo and brand colour?
Yes. Upload a logo and pick a brand colour, and both carry through to the cover and the accents in the PDF.
Where is my data stored?
Your draft stays in your own browser. When you download a PDF, the details are sent to StitchInvoice only to render the document, which is streamed straight back. Nothing is saved on our side.
